Copenhagen, Day 1

we had about 7 stops between Hamburg and Copenhagen, one of them our train simply drove onto a ferry and told us to get off and come back when we were done crossing! So totally unexpected we spent 45 minutes on deck feeling the sea breeze and counting jellyfish...ummm don't go swimming in the Baltic Sea! O_o

We got into Copenhagen about 13:00, and found our hostel with no issue!! Its really nice! The reception area doubles as a bar, there is a large lounge area, pool table, foozeball, and board games all in the lobby. Free wi-fi and free laptop/iPad rentals to HI members. (Hostelling International, which we are members of).

We found our room easily and the hostel is very clean and inviting. We are in a 4 bed, but its a bit cramped. But usually the 4 beds cost extra, so its a good price. Technically we may be alone, but haven't gone back into the room since 14:00.

We put our packs away, made our beds and went to walk around Copenhagen. The map we have is really great and marks a walking patch of the city to see the main sites! We followed the route and found the infamous Little Mermaid statue (which Heather is overjoyed with). Then we walked around this big park/fortress area.

We even found the royal palace (by mistake), and apparently there was some big to-do happening today. There were news camera and lines of people. We saw the changing of the guard and moved on.

The city is really great and everyone is very nice! We ate at a small resteraunt on the way back to the hostel. I had amazing nachos and Heather had "the best mushroom pasta dish of her life" (her words).

Fully sated we made it back to the hostel and rented a few netbooks for playing on, had a couple of happy hour 1/2 price beers and about to turn in early. We plan on going to Aarhus to discover a viking city!

Safe Travels,
- Kit & Heather
